Lauren Calder
Senior Psychologist
Lauren Calder is a senior psychologist registered with both the HCPC (UK) and the HPCSA (South Africa), with a clinical career spanning more than two decades. She holds an MA in Counselling Psychology, a specialisation in Transpersonal Psychology from the Australian Transpersonal Institute, and training as a Child and Family Mediator and is EMDR III certified.
Lauren's practice is grounded in the belief that most people come to therapy at a point of genuine transition, what she describes as a crisis in meaning, a crisis in ego, or a crisis in relationship. Rather than treating these moments as problems to be fixed, she approaches them as necessary turning points in the process of psychological growth and self-understanding. Most couples arrive with one person, or both, convinced the other is the problem. The work is in helping them see the dynamic they are both caught in, and finding a way through it together.
She works with both individuals and couples, and has developed particular depth in the areas of relationship dynamics, couples therapy, recovery from narcissistic abuse, anxiety, depression, life transitions and family conflict. Her approach is integrative and tailored to the person, drawing on solution-focused therapy, EMDR, Jungian psychology, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, transpersonal psychology and transactional analysis.
